Checking Out Different Types Of Kitchen Plans

When you are planning on building a house or even just redecorating, there are different types of plans you can have for your kitchen. The best type of design is the U-shaped kitchen that comes with three separate walls. It maximizes functionality for storage area and counter space, but is not suitable for accommodating more than one cook or entertaining. The kitchen might get very busy due to this set up. I suggest you have a region that is eight feet by eight feet at minimum so that you can have about four feet of center space in the kitchen. If your kitchen is large enough, a freestanding island for one workstation, often is the most efficient.

Another well-liked configuration is the L-shape kitchen plan where one workstation is on one wall and the adjoining wall features two workstations. When the workstations are situated near the bend in the L, then this plan will be more efficient than the U-shaped plan. The L-shape layout is not best if you haven’t got much room in the kitchen. You will need to have more than four feet of counter space between the two workstations that happen to be situated against the same wall. While looking at the layout of the workstations, you need to make sure that it employs a workflow that begins with the refrigerator, then to the sink, then to the stove top and then to the serving area. The perfect eating nook space should be at the opposite end of the bend in the L.

Another preferred kitchen plan is the island kitchen plan where a workstation, normally a stove or sink, is freestanding. The productive level of space needed for the work triangle is in excess of twenty six feet thus a large kitchen space is ideal. The island kitchen plan is not good to have in the event your workstations are on the opposite ends of each other. Speciality counters similar to a butcher block are fantastic to have on the island. It’s possible to have rollers on your island to ensure that it can be taken outside when entertaining guests. A similar configuration is the peninsula plan where the island is connected to a wall or cabinet. It really is most effective if you don’t have enough space for the regular island kitchen plan. With this set up, you will be able to look at another room instead of staring at a wall.

The most common lay out for smaller homes is the one wall layout. Even though this design is not the most efficient for the cook, it doesn’t need a lot of space to set up. Typically there is lots of traffic, because there is normally a doorway at each end of the kitchen. It really works best with the sink in the center with the refrigerator on one side and the stove top on the other. Each side of the sink needs to have at least four feet of counter room.

When you are trying to determine what kitchen schemes would be best, consider one of these layout options. Beyond your private preference for the design, the amount of space you have in your kitchen area will determine what you will decide.
